Steps to Candidacy

Follow these steps to officially become a City Council candidate.

Once the City Clerk's office has received and processed your information and determined your eligibility, your candidacy will appear on this website.

  1. Affidavit: Complete and submit the Candidate Affidavit within ten days of announcing your candidacy.

  2. Committee Registration: Before receiving any funds or making any expenses, you will need to complete a Candidate Committee Registration form.

  3. Circulate a Nomination Petition: Circulate a Nomination Petition and gather at least 25 signatures from registered electors who reside within your ward (or citywide if running for mayor).

  4. Financial Disclosure: All Candidates must turn in a Financial Disclosure form with the City Clerk.

  5. Campaign Finance: All candidates will need to submit a Campaign Finance Report to disclose financial activities and contributions during their campaign. Find forms and additional information below.
