Closures & Advisories
- There is a small section of sidewalk at South Shore Parkway that is closed to repair a broken pipe under the sidewalk. Do not enter the work area. See COTREX for updates.
- The 2 to 5 year-old playground underneath the shelter at Fairgrounds Park is closed for renovation. Estimated reopening is in November.
- The Namaqua to Wilson segment of the Recreation Trail is closed for a paving project until January 2025. During the project, a detour south to 1st Street is required for trail users. See COTREX for updates.
- Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park closed for the season on Oct 31. The park closes seasonally due to staffing levels, budgets, and wintertime safety issues. The park will re-open April 2025.
- The splash pads at Fairgrounds Park and Loveland Sports Park, and the water feature at Mehaffey Park has been turned off for the season as of September 3.
- The playground bridge at Mehaffey Park has been closed and will be removed, due to safety concerns. A new rigid bridge will be installed, installation TBD.

North Lake Park Swim Beach & Park Areas
The Swim Beach at North Lake Park and the adjacent park areas may be closed annually on July 3-5 for fireworks setup and safety zone, in addition to park clean-ups afterwards. During closure, barriers will be in place. Please DO NOT cross the barriers. |

Parks, Natural Areas & Trail Closures Seasonal closures may occur at various parks, natural areas & trails due to inclement weather such as snow, ice or flooding. Those locations will be gated/locked as necessary for public safety reasons. |

Flush Restrooms Seasonal closures occur at flush restrooms during the winter months to avoid freezing pipes. Portalets are available at those locations when flush restrooms are closed. |

Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park is open April through October, weather permitting. Occasional closures may occur during spring and fall due to snow or ice, or during summer months due to potential flooding, wildfire or other hazardous conditions. |
