Opening this weekend:

• Buckhorn Northern Railroad (miniature train) at North Lake Park - The train will begin running at North Lake Park on Saturday & Sunday, and also Monday (for the Memorial Day holiday) during the following regular hours of operation:
  • Mondays - CLOSED (Open these holidays: Memorial Day & Labor Day Mondays)
  • Wednesdays - 2:00-8:00pm
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays - 12:00-8:00pm
• Lake Loveland Swim Beach at North Lake Park - The swim beach will open for the season on Saturday, and will remain open during regular hours through the Labor Day holiday in September (staffing and water levels permitting). PLEASE STAY WITHIN THE ROPED/BUOY AREAS.  
• Fairgrounds Park, west side - The park areas on the west side of the Big Thompson River will be re-opening (post flood repairs), on Saturday. This includes the Dog Park, Spray Park, Pavilion 1 & Pavilion 2, the restrooms and the bridges.  Some areas are still under construction (as noted below), and will be fenced off until May 31st.
• Barnes Softball Complex at Fairgrounds Park - The Barnes Softball Complex and the Batting Cages have been partially opened for the season already, but now ALL of the fields will be playable!
• Recreation Trail Underpass at Highway 287 - The underpass giving the Recreation Trail access under Highway 287 (just southeast of Fairgrounds Park) is opening! This completes the trail closures for this section of the Recreation Trail, post flood, and we are happy to open it for regular use again! 

Delayed Openings:

• Centennial Park Ball Fields - The ball fields at Centennial Park have been completed and games have been scheduled through the LBA to begin May 31st. Swift Field will have its first game of the season on June 1st.
• Tot Lot Pavilion & Playground at Fairgrounds Park, west side - The Tot Lot Pavilion and the adjacent playground are being completed, and they remain fenced off until the work is done. The target opening date is May 31st for the remaining fenced areas.
• Playground at Barnes Batting Cages at Fairgrounds Park - The playground adjacent to the Barnes Batting Cage facility remains closed until work can be completed. The target opening date is June 9th.
• Winona Outdoor Pool - Winona Pool is undergoing maintenance and pool resurfacing, which has not been completed yet. It is set for a target opening date of June 9th.
