Gov. Hickenlooper signs House Bill 18-1400 at Sunset Vista Natural Area in Loveland, CO

What is HB 18-1400? 

Gov. Hickenlooper signed HB 18-1400 (Air Fees Bill) today at Sunset Vista Natural Area in Loveland, CO. The bill, titled Increase Fees Stationary Sources of Pollution, is a step toward ensuring the State is able to hire staff in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to be able to inspect and issue permits for stationary sources of pollution - everything from dry cleaners to oil and gas wells, according to a statement from Colorado Representative Hugh McKean.

The Governor also took photos at Sunset Vista as part of the 16x16 trails, addressing several of his goals through the Colorado the Beautiful initiative, with the goal being that within a generation every Coloradan will live within 10 minutes of a park, trail or green space.

Long View Trail Project

Kelly Smith, Project Manager for the new Long View Trail, also spoke to Gov. Hickenlooper regarding the multi-use recreation and commuter trail that will connect the cities of Loveland and Fort Collins and tie into the Loveland Recreation Trail System. 

Loveland and Fort Collins, along with Larimer County, received funding from a CDOT Transportation Alternative Project Grant ($1 million) and a Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Paths to Parks Grant ($1 million), to help pay for construction of the 4.4-mile long, 10-foot wide Long View Corridor Trail, trailhead/parking lot and intersection improvements to connect to the Loveland and Fort Collins trail systems.  

Sunset Vista and Long View are part of the Open Lands & Trails division of City of Loveland Parks & Recreation.
