WHEN IS A BUILDING PERMIT REQUIRED?
A building permit is required for new construction, additions, or alterations.

How do I obtain a building permit?

- Complete all required forms for your project type and email to eplan-res@cityofloveland.org

How long will it take to get a building permit? The current plan review estimate for permits is 20-30 working days per round of review

Is a Contractor required? A homeowner can complete their own work in the home that is their primary residence. A homeowner affidavit would also be required. Click here for affidavit. A valid City of Loveland Contractor's License is required for any structural, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing work in rental homes, multi-family buildings, & non-residential buildings. To obtain or renew a Contractor's License, please choose the tab "Contractor Licensing" on this page. To verify that a contractor holds a valid City license, call 970-962-2505
