Loveland Police Investigate Home Invasion
On April 3rd, 2024, Loveland Police Officers responded to a 911 call of a male and female screaming for help in the 1600 block of East 16th Street. When officers arrived, they learned two males had broken into a residence, robbed the three occupants, sprayed them with pepper spray, and left after stabbing one victim in the head. The victim was later treated and released.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified three suspects who were involved in the home invasion. Later that afternoon, Blake Vaughan, a 33-year-old Loveland resident, was located at the Comfort Suites in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was arrested on unrelated warrants in addition to new criminal charges related to the planning of this robbery. During the investigation, detectives learned a 13-year-old male was involved. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest, and he was taken into custody in Loveland on April 5, 2024. Detectives also identified a third male who was involved in the robbery. An arrest warrant was obtained for Albert Alvarez-Guzman, a 29-year-old Loveland resident. Alvarez-Guzman was recently released on parole into the Loveland community and shortly after removed his ankle monitor before detectives with the Loveland Police Department Criminal Impact Unit were able to locate him.
A joint operation to apprehend Alvarez-Guzman was initiated by investigators from the Loveland Police Department, Colorado Department of Corrections, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Collins Police Services, and the Colorado State Patrol. After an extensive search, he was located leaving a residence in Wellington, Colorado on April 25, 2024. Alvarez-Guzman barricaded himself in a vehicle and was taken into custody by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and K9 unit.
Albert Alvarez-Guzman was charged with the following offenses:

- CRIME OF VIOLENCE, C.R.S. 18-1.3-406(2)(a)(I)(A) (SE)
- AGGRAVATED ROBBERY, C.R.S. 18-4-302(1)(b) (F3)
- ASSAULT IN THE SECOND DEGREE, C.R.S. 18-3-203(1)(b) (F4)
- MENACING, C.R.S. 18-3-206 (F5)
- THEFT, C.R.S. 18-4-401(1),(2)(g) (F5)
- CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR IN THE FIRST DEGREE, C.R.S. 18-6-701(1)(a) (F4)
The juvenile male was charged with the following offenses:
- FIRST DEGREE BURGLARY, C.R.S.18-4-202(1) (F3)
- AGGRAVATED ROBBERY, C.R.S. 18-4-302(1)(b) (F3)
- ASSAULT IN THE SECOND DEGREE, C.R.S.18-3-203(1)(b) (F4)
- MENACING, C.R.S. 18-3-206 (F5)
- THEFT, C.R.S. 18-4-401(1),(2)(g) (F5)
- VIOLENT JUVENILE OFFENDER, C.R.S. 19-2.5-1125(3)
The juvenile was transported to Platte Valley Youth Services Center and was subsequently released on an ankle monitor.
Blake Vaughn was charged with the following offenses:
- COMPLICITY - FIRST DEGREE BURGLARY, C.R.S. 18-4-202(1) (F3)
- COMPLICITY - AGGRAVATED ROBBERY, C.R.S. 18-4-302(1)(b) (F3)
- CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR IN THE FIRST DEGREE, C.R.S. 18-6-701(1)(a) (F4)
Vaughan was released from the Larimer County Jail on a $5,000 bond. Alvarez-Guzman is currently being held at the Larimer County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
Sergeant Alex Hutchison, Crimes Against Persons supervisor stated, “Violent crimes such as this pose a serious threat to our community. The Loveland Police Department would like to thank all our partners in Northern Colorado who assisted us in locating and arresting these suspects.”
The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
