Stretch of Railroad Avenue to be Repaired

Post Date:12/02/2014 4:00 p.m.

Railroad Avenue, severely damaged during the 2013 Flood, will reopen temporarily before the end of December, but not until a stretch currently open shuts down to make way for the work.

Public Works crews early on Wednesday, Dec. 3, will close the street at the southernmost entrance to the Fairgrounds Park parking lot. Access to the Dog Park feature will be from the walking path accessed via the main parking lot (park at the north end of Fairgrounds Park - 700 S. Railroad Avenue).

Milling and repaving work on Railroad Avenue will continue through the next several weeks to allow a temporary opening of the avenue from First Street to 14th Street Southwest for the first time since the flood.

Permanent repairs to Railroad Avenue will await further study by City, State and Federal highway managers.
