Homelessness in Loveland is both growing and more visible. While the City has some efforts established to help, we recognize that community members have concerns about the lack of systems in place that lead to growing encampments, garbage, and perceived safety for community members as well as those experiencing homelessness. Balancing the desire of residents with the needs of people living outside can be difficult and require extensive policy and programmatic discussions. That is where the City’s Homelessness Strategic Planning efforts come in to play.
The May 23 Town Hall will include a short presentation about best practices that are being explored to build a healthy community by reducing homelessness, as well as actions taken in Northern Colorado to build systems to get people into housing. An introduction into the Northern Colorado Coordinated Assessment and Housing Placement System (CAHPS) will provide background into the methodology of building sustainable solutions. During the Town Hall, City staff and council will listen to questions and feedback from participants about this topic that will further inform future educational opportunities and council discussions. This Town Hall will be a remote public meeting through Zoom.
