"The Case of the Feather Fluff Puff"
Join the Open Lands & Trails team for a semi-guided Critter Scene Investigation and learn about local wildlife. Visit volunteer-staffed stations throughout Namaqua Park for clues and evidence to solve the critter mystery.
Scene: A soft “coo-hoo” repeats over and over in the first light of morning. As the sun rises, a shadow glides through the trees with a swishing sound. There is a rustling noise, then a wheezing raspy call. Then silence. Later, a fluffy pile of white and gray dove feathers is found at the base of a cottonwood tree.
Possible Suspects: Coyote, Squirrel, Grey Fox, Owl, Cooper’s Hawk, Raccoon. Your job is to examine the evidence, and figure out the critter responsible for leaving a puff of fluff on the ground.
