This free training is for volunteers interested in helping to present "Plants & Places" environmental education programs to 2nd and 3rd grade students at small group learning stations in River's Edge Natural Area. These field trip programs are held on weekdays from 9am-2:30pm, from mid-September into early November.
During training, volunteers are guided through three 30-minute stations or two 45-minute guided walks. Training includes the lesson itself and additional information to guide student participation and an activity. The lessons are repeated to each group as they rotate through stations (so volunteers do not need to learn all 5 lessons). This is a fun way to volunteer for those interested in sharing their love of nature with children at a convenient "in-town" location.
All Plants & Places volunteers are required to have a background check. Number of teaching days is dependent on teacher reservations but typically varies between 2-6 times per month.

Other education program trainings will be offered on September 7 (Wildlife - Energy through the Biosphere - Grades 4-5) and September 8 (Critter Scene Investigation - Grades PreK-2nd) .
