Led by artist, Tony Ortega, students will paint an image with opaque etching ink onto a smooth Plexiglas plate. The painted image will be transferred onto black printing paper using a printing press. The result will give the artwork a texture not possible by direct marking/painting onto the paper. The monotype that is pulled off the plate always has an element of surprise, and the final result on paper may look quite different than the image on the plate. One print from each student will be eligible to be displayed in the Museum’s print exhibit from March – May. Also, we will have time for a lunch break during the workshop.
